2020 Cultural Advocacy Network
Thank you to all of the
participants of the
Inaugural CAN Advocacy Day!
The Cultural Advocacy Network of Michigan hosted their first advocacy day at the Capitol on March 10, 2020. We hosted nearly 50 people from cultural organizations across the state. Our participants met with over 90 legislators during office visits and our legislative luncheon. We spoke about the importance of three issues:
1. Securing new funding for the Cultural Experiences program in the Michigan Council of Arts and Cultural Affairs budget.
2. Ensuring the State Historic Preservation Office has the necessary funding to meet the Federal match requirement.
3. Support Senate Bill 54 and House Bill 4100 which would reinstate the Historic Preservation Tax Credit.
