Join us at the Capitol for FUND MI Arts & Culture Day, a powerful statewide rally in response to the House’s devastating proposal to eliminate all funding for the Michigan Arts and Culture Council (MACC). This event is open to everyone, and we encourage you to share this invitation widely within your networks.

On September 16, we’re showing up loud and united to tell lawmakers: Arts and culture matter—and they must be funded.

    Why We’re Rallying

The Michigan House of Representatives passed a budget that completely eliminates MACC funding, threatening:

    • Thousands of creative sector jobs

    • Community programs in education, history, and wellness

    • Tourism, local businesses, and Michigan’s economic vitality

The House budget is $5 billion smaller than the Senate’s version and zeroes out critical investments in Michigan’s creative infrastructure. This would be catastrophic for artists, educators, preservationists, and the communities we serve.

Now Is the Time to Act

The Governor, Senate, and House must finalize the state budget before October 1 to avoid a government shutdown. Budget negotiations are happening right now, and our collective voice can shape the outcome.

    What to Expect

    • Rally at the Capitol

    • Legislative visits (where possible)

    • Creative displays and performances to show the power of Michigan’s culture sector

    Registration & Logistics

We’ll do our best to schedule legislative meetings for attendees, but appointments cannot be guaranteed. Even if meetings are not confirmed, your presence at the rally is essential.

More details and talking points will be sent to all registrants prior to the event.

    Let’s stand together and demand:

Fund MI Arts. Fund MI Culture. Fund Our Future.
