At the heart of the Cultural Advocacy Network's (CAN) mission – to support and unite statewide cultural interests through advocacy and education -- is an opportunity for you to become more engaged in our work. We hope you will consider joining our collective group of supporters, artists, educators, preservationists, history buffs, librarians, humanities scholars, festivals and arts and cultural organizations. When you join CAN, you become an advocate of the creative, historical, artistic and educational opportunities that take place in all 83 Michigan counties. In addition to connecting with a community of like-minded individuals, all CAN members receive the following as benefits of membership:

• Special registration rates for CAN events. 

• Invitation to annual meeting.

• Special member-only newsletters highlighting advocacy needs and activities.

• Opportunity to submit legislative priorities for consideration.

Statewide Leadership 

Organizations that serve a statewide membership or constituency provide leadership for CAN. Each statewide leadership organization has a seat on the board. Statewide leadership organizations provide a representative to the board who is expected to fully participate in board activities. Each statewide leadership organization can have up to ten (10) staff or board members attached to their account.

There are three levels for this membership, based on organizational revenue. 

• • Level 1 (annual revenue up to $100,000): $100

  • Level 2 (annual revenue $100,001 to $500,000): $250

  • Level 3 (annual revenue over $500,001): $500

Organization: $75

This level includes arts and culture organizations, including statewide organizations that do not want to serve in a leadership capacity, regional service organizations, and individual organizations that want to be part of the community of arts and culture advocates in Michigan. Each organization member can add up to five (5) staff or board members attached to their account.

Individual: $25

Individuals who are not part of Statewide Leadership or Organization membership may also join CAN to be part of the community of arts and culture advocates in Michigan.
